The Story Behind Rae of Light SEO

Hi, I’m Dezaraye Wertman the proud owner of Rae of Light SEO. As a child, I did not dream of becoming an SEO specialist, but I did dream of becoming a teacher. For 15 years, I taught elementary school. I loved helping children learn, especially helping them to discover concepts that they had a hard time understanding. Those “ah ha moments” were always priceless.

As it turns out, I didn't leave that part of myself behind when I left the classroom. Teaching is still a big part of what I do today. The subject matter has changed, and my students are now business owners, but I still spend a lot of time taking something that feels complicated and making it easier to understand.

How Rae of Light SEO Began

Rae of Light SEO came out of a period of tremendous change in my life. After experiencing multiple losses in my family, I began looking at my life, my priorities, and what I wanted my future to look like differently. Eventually, I knew I was ready to build something of my own.

Unexpectedly, SEO was a great fit for me. It gave me a chance to combine my love for problem-solving and research with something else I’ve always loved to do: helping people. Being able to strategize with business owners within my own community and even outside of it to figure out why they aren’t being found online is so much fun. I especially love to see the results of our hard work. I didn’t want to make SEO seem like a mystery to the businesses I work with, so I still teach it to make SEO useful in ways others don’t.

That's still the foundation of Rae of Light SEO today. I help Phoenix business owners understand how they're showing up online, where they're being overlooked, and how we can improve their visibility.

Why Rae of Light?

The name Rae of Light SEO has a personal story. During an extremely difficult chapter of my life, I walked away from my teaching career and turned to a new one. Finding light in dark places during that time mattered more than anything, and it made sense to bring that to my business. SEO also shines a light on businesses often left in the dark, falling behind their competitors. After loss and change, building something new became my way forward.

That meaning has grown with the business. I've met so many talented business owners who have poured years into becoming great at what they do, yet they're practically invisible when someone searches for their services online. They don't need someone to tell them how to run their business. They need help making sure other people can find the business they've already built.

That's what "Let me shine a light on your business" means to me. It's more than our tagline. It describes why Rae of Light SEO exists.

One of my biggest frustrations with the SEO industry is how unnecessarily complicated it can sound.
